Conference Venue

 DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City in Brussels, Belgium

The DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City is well connected to public transport. The nearest stop is Rogier, located just beside the hotel, which is served by Brussels Metro lines 2 and 6 as well as tram lines 4 and 10. The hotel is also only about 500 metres (a 4–5 minute walk) from Brussels-North railway station, which offers national rail services and a direct train connection to Brussels Airport.

Accommodation

Each participant is responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements. You should book accommodation early, as October is a busy season in Brussels.

Booking with the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

The first day of our conference will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City, which has a number of hotel rooms. If you wish to book a room directly with the hotel, you can do so here.

Transport

Participants are responsible for making their own arrangements for transportation. 

Arriving in Brussels

Brussels is served by two international airports.

  • Brussels Airport (BRU), the main airport, is located in Zaventem and has a railway station directly beneath the terminal. Frequent direct trains run to Brussels-North, Brussels-Central and Brussels-Midi (South) stations, with journeys to the city centre taking around 18–20 minutes. 
  • Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), used by many low-cost airlines, is located approximately 60 km south of Brussels. The most convenient option is the direct Flibco shuttle bus to Brussels-Midi station, departing frequently throughout the day and taking around 55 minutes. 

Travelling to Brussels by Train

High-speed Eurostar services connect Brussels-Midi station directly with London, Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne, offering fast city-centre-to-city-centre travel. Journey times are approximately 2 hours to London, 1 hour 20 minutes to Paris, 1 hour 50 minutes to Amsterdam, and 1 hour 50 minutes to Cologne. 

In addition to Eurostar, Brussels has excellent rail connections across Belgium and neighbouring countries.

Other Useful Information

  • Paying for public transport: Contactless payment is widely accepted on public transport, allowing passengers to travel using a bank card or mobile device without purchasing a ticket in advance.
  • Language: Brussels is officially bilingual (French and Dutch), though English is widely spoken in hotels, restaurants and tourist areas.
  • Taxis and Ride-Hailing: Taxis, Uber and other ride-hailing services operate throughout the city.
  • Accessibility: Most major transport hubs, airports and metro stations offer step-free access and accessibility services, although travellers should check individual stations in advance.
  • Cycling: Brussels offers a public bike-sharing scheme and an expanding network of cycling routes, making cycling a practical option for short journeys.
